About Brynn Downing

I served as the 34th Writer in Residence at St. Albans School. A former au pair, builder of straw bale homes, and waitress, I've also worked as a teaching artist in New York City, Yonkers and Sarajevo. Before moving into education, I crafted copy for nonprofits (and still do! See my Contact page for more, and check out my CV here).  I currently work at an independent high school located in the Santa Ynez Valley of California. I run the social media of Four Way Review, where I also serve as Interviews Editor.

I earned my BA in Global Studies, focusing on Masculinity and Nationalism in Former Yugoslavia, from the College of William and Mary. I earned my MFA in Creative Writing from Sarah Lawrence College. I was awarded the Tom Lux Award, given to teachers and writers of Poetry. I was also the Assistant Director of the 2014 Sarah Lawrence Poetry Festival and Director of the 2015 Sarah Lawrence Poetry Festival.
